California 2005-2010

My emotional home base is California. Family, trees and beaches are there. The sun in my neighborhood warms the soul. The deer nearby have little fear. Nature is close and my roots sink deep.

A special feeling fills me when I am there. When I am with those and the things I love, I press back into an embrace that allows me to paint from an unguarded place. A series has been peculating there for years and I slowly build a body of work that is neither abstract of realistic. This is a series that talks of going and coming back, of stepping into nature and being home. It is warm like the sun and fresh like the sea.
