Transition & Migration 2003

All creatures migrate. Whales and birds seek distant birthing and feeding grounds while humans search for freedom and opportunity through migration. As an artist pursuing deeper paintings, my searching includes voyages across five continents and fifty countries.

All creatures come to rest. During the summer of 2002, I was blessed with a fine studio (converted horse stable) where I felt alive and close to nature. A yearning for trees, fields, mountains and open spaces precipitated the production of a series of bold abstract works. My transition from traveling architectural and religious landscapes to sitting quietly with natural vistas, birds and deer reminded me of my roots.This series of paintings presents ‘postcards’ from starting, transitioning and resting points along the way.
