Mankind came from the sea. Some 400 million years ago life emerged from its liquid home and took up residency on dry land. Why this happened remains a mystery. Did competition or predators drive creatures to seek food or refuge on land? We don’t know. We do know that the transition was fraught with challenges, which would take millions of years of adaptation to sort through. But the fact remains; we came from the sea.

Crawling out of the depths was humankind’s initiation. Like stepping foot on the moon, land was foreign and unknown. But transitioning into the unknown is in our DNA. Going without knowing all the answers though scary and dangerous, is how humans continue to seek, stretch and survive. Perhaps this incessant quest for the next frontier is what keeps us going and growing. Like fish that must continually move in order to breathe, we too keep striving towards some unknown so we can stay alive.
